Desert Island RoboCop

Charlie Brooker was Kirsty Young's castaway last week on Desert Island Discs.

Brooker chose a wide-range of music from the Pixies to something off the Dougal and The Blue Cat soundtrack (a film I've only ever heard Mark Kermode talk about). And to sum up the entirety of video game music - Brooker used to be a gaming journalist - he selected the theme from RoboCop on the Nintendo Game Boy.

And good shout too, as this is an astonishing piece of 8-bit / chiptune music. It's also a bit of a meme but then isn't everything now.

The full show is up on the iPlayer for the next couple of weeks, but the abridged version, with 30 second clips of the music is available as a podcast on most platforms (I listened to it on Acast). And if you want to download and keep the RoboCop theme too, here's a link to the mp3 from under the YouTube video.
